In our country, there are 230 therapeutic water centers, one of which is located in the heart of a high mountain called Mount Genu. This hot spring, known as the Genu hot spring, is one of several hot springs situated in the Genu protected area. Capturing memorable images of this beautiful spring has attracted many tourists who visit the Genu protected area each year, spending delightful moments in this location. The Genu protected area is a pristine mountainous region located 29 kilometers northwest of Bandar Abbas, covering an area of over 40 hectares. It houses a wide variety of rare plant and animal species in our country. This pleasant climate area, encompassing a vast expanse of Iran's astonishing nature, has long been a focus of interest for many nature lovers and tourists due to its breathtaking landscapes and stunning views.

Features of the Genu Hot Spring

Today, the therapeutic properties of hot springs are well-known, and the Genu hot spring, composed of water with sulfur and sodium chloride compounds, plays a significant role in alleviating joint and muscle pain and improving skin diseases, including rheumatism. It is noteworthy that the presence of compounds such as chlorine and hydrogen sulfide in the water of this spring makes it very difficult for life to exist there. In fact, it can be said that no creature other than a specific type of fish called Aphanius ginaonis can survive in the waters of the Genu hot spring, and interestingly, this fish species is found nowhere else in the world. The water from the spring is used for irrigating palm groves and bathing. The Genu spring water is classified as very hot sulfuric water, containing chlorine and sulfate, as well as calcium sulfide.

This spring features two relatively large pools for women and men, equipped with facilities such as several small pavilions for resting and accommodating travelers, as well as places to sell drinks and snacks. The area surrounding the spring is filled with beautiful green palm trees. The spring's runoff flows out of the pools like a small river, cascading down as a small waterfall after traveling several kilometers.

The Genu hot spring is so beautiful and attractive that many people migrate to Hormozgan province and Bandar Abbas city in the winter season solely to see these waterfalls and stunning natural scenery. The Sana Persian team hopes to serve you in the very near future and accompany you on your visit to Iran, Hormozgan province, Bandar Abbas city, and the Genu hot springs. Looking forward to seeing you very soon!
