Baba Qasim tomb

Baba Qasim is one of the Sufis who lived in Isfahan in 14th century, in that era people called Sufis baba in respect of their religious position, so baba Qasim was a sufi and by adding baba to his name his position raised to a grate religious man which even today after hundreds of years’ people pilgrims to his tomb and ask peace for him and his family. His tomb is very close to Atique mosque and located in Hatef street. The date of construction is written on a piece of tile and date is on the year 417 lunar hijri calendar.

On the eastern wall there is a stone tablet in which the names of 12 Imams of shia dialect and praise all of them in religious words are carved.
Inside the semi hemisphere dome there are beautiful coverings of blue tiles on brick honey combs and a religious saying means god is the greatest creator is carved for 8 times. The main gate is in north side and whole structure is made on a rectangular base. The tomb has two domes which are in inter connected and one based on the rectangular from and the other on 8 sided base. Inside the main building there is a very beautiful praying hall made from bricks and there are two big tile working which again the name of 12 imams is written in a very good Persian calligraphy. inside the dome there is a very sophisticated honey comb made from bricks and the name of 12 Imams is written on the runners of the ceiling and on the walls. there is another tomb stone which again names of 12 Imams is written on the tomb stone and belongs to a hero who lived 400 years ago. The hemisphere dome is located on a rectangular base. on each side of rectangular form there is a window to let the light illuminate the halls. the transition form is 16th sided and in center there is an 8 sided star made from blue tiles covered the brick like an eight sided star.

There is not an exact day of living or death of Baba Qasim but we know he died in16th century. When he was alive, in respect of him the government at that time made a religious school and his school named Imammieh madrassah. This tomb is very beautiful and worth to visit if anyone has enough time to visit it when he is in Isfahan. So next time you intend to visit Isfahan, and if you have extra time do not forget to visit the tomb of Baba Qasim ,the great Sufi.
