Subatan

Subatān is a village located in the Karganroud district of Talesh County, in the northwest of Gilan Province, Iran. It is situated to the west of Lisar and northwest of the city of Talesh. The name "Subatān" translates to "the place where golpar grows," referring to a type of herb and spice commonly used in Iran. In the Taleshi language, "Su" means golpar, and "batān" means to grow, which is fitting since golpar flourishes throughout this region. Subatān is a beautiful and expansive area adjacent to the Lisar neighborhood and is considered a pleasant summer retreat for local residents due to its favorable climate. This lush region is dotted with cool and beautiful springs and is located 26 kilometers from Hashtpar County and 21 kilometers from the stunning Neor Lake. It is bordered to the east by the dense forests of Lisar, to the west by the summer pastures of Ardabil and Niyoo Lake, and to the north by the rushing Lisar River and the summer pastures of Khatbesara. This picturesque and green area is home to many families from Lisar. In Subatān, there are dozens of ancient cemeteries, indicating a rich history and ancient civilization in this historic land. The discovery of two large stone graves in Quri Valley and the Nomandani neighborhood strongly supports this claim.
