Mahalat is a city in the central part of Mahalat County, located in the Markazi Province of Iran. Known as the capital of flowers in Iran, Mahalat is famous for producing various flowers such as roses,chrysanthemums, and red willows, as well as other indoor plants. The city is also known for its traditional sweet, halva ardeh. Situated 252 kilometers from Tehran, Mahalat is bordered by Arak to the north, Isfahan and Golpayegan to the south, Khomein to the west, and Delijan to the east. As one of the major centers for the production of decorative flowers, Mahalat ranks first in the country for flower diversity.
Surrounding the city are dozens, if not hundreds, of stone quarries, primarily for travertine, contributing millions of dollars to the national economy each year. Marble is another valuable stone produced in Mahalat, highly regarded among decorative stones.
Keep in mind that Mahalat is located in a hot and dry region, experiencing very hot summers but mild springs and autumns. The best time to visit Mahalat is in spring and early summer, especially when the trees bloom and flowers create breathtaking scenes. During this short period, Mahalat transforms into a terrestrial paradise in terms of beauty. In May, numerous festivals related to flowers and plants are held in the area, attracting many tourists. Another tourist attraction in Mahalat is its hot springs, which are active year-round, with pools and baths available along their paths to serve visitors.
