We have many old historical palace in Iran which most of them destroyed because of invasion of enemies or natural disasters like earthquake or flush fluids. After forming the clay in mudbricks the architects made huge building but because these bricks are not baked, they are susceptible to ruin because of rain, snow, wind and other natural forces. Ardeshir babakan palace or Ardeshir fire temple is located near Firoozabad in Fars province in vicinity of “Ghal-e- dokhtar” castle. This palace is established in order of Ardeshir babakan the founder of Sassanid Empire in 224 B.C. this Palace is 2 km. far from old historical Gur city. The name of this city changed to Pirooz or victory after defeat of “Ardavan Sassani”. Years later after Arab, the name of pirooz changed to Firooz because Arab nation cannot pronounce “P” and instead they say “F” and changed “Pirooz” to Firoozabad.
This structure consists of 3 domes and it is bigger and more sophisticated than its resemblance “Ghal-e-dokhtar”. Many people believe this palace is more ornamental instead of a strong castle to defend and it shows more about the magnificence of king itself even if this structure is made more stronger comparing the “Ghal-e-dokhtar” the thickness of the walls of Ardeshir-e-Babakan is twice and the material used in palace is so strong an reliable that the plaster inside the interior dome is intact an good condition after centuries and thousands of years. Outside of the palace there is a natural spring which made a natural pool and in other side and in eastern part, there is a river which irrigated the “Gur city” and many gardens around palace. Outside the palace there is a fire place for rituals and in north east of the palace there was a façade which ended to a garden or pool which was similar to “Tsifoon” Beside north east side there was a collection of residential homes. The defending walls have more than 4 meters thickness and there were galleries which rounded the domes.
This old structure is in endangered positon and should be renovated because of the defects and problems which made this structure weak trough the time. Preserving this gem needs lots of money and effort by professionals and it needs to promote people and experts to visit this important site.
